A free, twelve-module teaching programme for everyone who teaches at Bir Adım İleri — from language teachers to psychologists, dietitians and yoga teachers. It is not about a subject — it is about the person teaching and the person learning.

Knowing a subject well and being able to teach it are two different skills. Many educators are strong in their field but have never had pedagogical training: nobody explained how to work with different ages, how motivation actually functions, when feedback does harm, or what to do when a learner tells you something difficult.
That is exactly what this programme covers. It is subject-agnostic: language teachers, exam and career coaches, psychologists, dietitians, yoga and movement teachers and art teachers all take the same programme, and every module has examples from their fields. It is free, self-paced, and it ends with a verifiable certificate.

Teacher-competency frameworks (Cambridge’s teacher development framework is one example) describe a teacher’s development in four stages. The Teaching Compass targets the first of them, Foundation: the shared pedagogical ground everyone who teaches with us builds on.

Time
How much time should you set aside?
Each module takes an estimated 14 to 18 minutes to read, and each has a video of about 7 minutes. With the videos and checks, at your own pace, the whole programme takes about five hours; there is no rush, and your progress is saved to your account.

Certificate and badge
Once all twelve modules are complete you can take the certification exam: 30 scenario questions drawn at random from a 78-item bank, pass mark 80%. You may retake it as often as you like; the paper is different every time.
On passing you receive the Teaching Compass — Foundation programme completed badge and a record of completion carrying a personal verification code. Anyone can verify that code publicly.

We can’t work with every applicant, but every application is read.
Frequently asked
Is it really free?
Yes. The programme is entirely free and there is no paid version. Its purpose is to give every educator teaching on the platform a shared pedagogical foundation.
How long does it take?
The twelve modules total roughly three hours of reading, plus a 7-minute video in each module. You can go at your own pace and stop whenever you like — your progress is saved to your account.
Is it only for English teachers?
No. The programme is subject-agnostic: it is written for language teachers, psychologists, dietitians, yoga and movement teachers, art teachers and coaches. Every module has examples from these fields, and Module 11 covers scope of practice and referral.
Do I need an account?
Module 1 is open to everyone. The other modules, the exam and the certificate need an educator account, which we send you as an invitation once your application has been reviewed.
Is this a formal teaching qualification?
No. This is Bir Adım İleri's own educator programme and it does not replace a state-issued teaching qualification. It is practical, platform-specific preparation.
Can I lose my progress?
No. When you are signed in, your progress is saved to your account and you can continue on any device. When the programme is updated, modules you have completed stay complete; you don’t need to redo them.
